The SQDC’s mission is to sell cannabis with a focus on health protection, the goal being to integrate consumers into the legal cannabis market and keep them in it without actually encouraging cannabis use.
Cannabis is no ordinary product and using it can have an impact on one’s health. That is why the SQDC is committed to selling it with a focus on protecting public health.
Buying your cannabis at the SQDC gives you access to a wide range of products whose quality and source are controlled by Health Canada. As all our products are clearly labelled, you can know exactly what is in the products you buy.
You also enjoy competitive prices that reflect product quality, a friendly and safe shopping environment and the expertise of our in-store advisors. And, of course, buying cannabis at the SQDC is legal.
The SQDC has openings for several interesting and stimulating positions in stores and at head office. For more information.
The first stores were located in the most densely populated urban areas of the province. This was done in collaboration with the municipalities concerned, which had to indicate their willingness to have an SQDC store within their city limits. To be able to serve all of Québec from day one, the SQDC created a transactional website alongside its store network. Plans are for the store network to expand throughout Québec in the coming years. New points of sale will be added as necessary to meet market demand. The exact locations remain to be determined.
The SQDC sells a wide range of products that meet Health Canada’s highest quality standards. For more information, see the Learn about cannabis section.
Other types of cannabis products (edibles, extracts and topicals among them) can now be sold in Canada. However, the SQDC does not carry all of them. To learn more about the products allowed and banned in Québec, see the New cannabis products in Québec article.
All cannabis products sold at the SQDC are grown in Canada and come exclusively from growers licensed by Health Canada. To protect users’ health, all SQDC cannabis products meet the highest quality standards.

Before paying us a visit, here are some things you should know in order to have the best experience possible.
Under the act regulating cannabis, no one under the age of 21 is allowed in SQDC stores, even if accompanied by someone 21 or older. If you show up at an SQDC store with your child, he or she will not be allowed inside. Please note that there is no waiting area for people under 21 in SQDC stores.
As stipulated in the act, cannabis is a product reserved for persons aged 21 and over. As a result, SQDC ensures that no one under 21 is allowed to enter SQDC stores or to see the products in them.
All customers will be required to show a valid ID before being allowed into the store. A valid ID may also be required at checkout.
SQDC’s primary mission is to sell cannabis. For convenience’s sake, SQDC offer a few basic accessories for use (lighters, grinders and rolling papers) in SQDC cannabis stores. However, you will not find more elaborate accessories for using cannabis (vaporizers, for example). To buy those types of products, you will need to visit a specialized boutique.
Before buying SQDC cannabis, there’s some information you need to know
- No samples are handed out, no tastings are held and no cannabis is consumed in SQDC stores.
- SQDC does not sell products in bulk. All the cannabis SQDC sells comes in prepackaged standard quantities and is labelled.
- SQDC advisors are not authorized to use cannabis during their shift or to work while under the influence. Do not invite them to go outside the store with you to try a cannabis product because they will refuse. SQDC zero tolerance policy is very clear about this.
- You are not allowed to handle non-purchased cannabis products in SQDC stores. Even if that is standard procedure in most other stores. Once you have selected your products, you give your order to a checkout advisor. Only after the products have been paid for at the cash will they be handed to you.
- The advice and sales zone of SQDC stores is divided into three cannabis product sections: an Indica section, a Sativa section and a hybrid section. A list of the available products is posted on the wall in each section. You can refer to the list and ask an advisor to go get a product once you have made your selection.
- Do you already know what product you want to buy? Go straight to the express checkout and give the advisor your order. Your transaction will be finished fast.

Please note that the effects of a given product may vary from person to person and from time to time. Descriptions of effects are provided as indications only.
After you ingest an edible cannabis product, the effects may take 60 minutes or longer to appear and may last up to 8 hours or longer. If you have questions about safe doses and methods of use, see our Methods of use page.
It is very important to keep these products out of the reach of children, teens and pets. Store them securely to prevent accidental use and intoxication. To avoid overdosing, start with a small dose and wait several hours between doses. For additional advice on using cannabis responsibly, see the Responsible use section.
